PsychoAnalytic PsychoDiagnostic Assessment - Child and Adult Psychodynamic-Analytic Psychotherapy

The conscious mind may be compared to a fountain playing in the sun and falling back into the great subterranean pool of unconsciousness from which it rises.

The Robinson-Wood Center

Primum non nocere

(First, do no harm)

We are the Robinson-Wood Center, an outpatient clinic located in a private setting within the southern-most boundary of the White Mountains National Forest. It is, and has been our long-standing vision and commitment to reduce emotional suffering and increase well-being. The foundation of the Center's work has and continues to be the emotional and cognitive welfare of children and adolescents.

Struggling parents with their children seek relief from the Center to address their anguish brought about by various disturbances of the nuclear family: alcohol and drug mis-use, separations and divorce, deaths, military deployments; emotional neglect and abandonment, emotional and physical abuse. Almost always the healthy emotional development of the child is impaired. Teenage pregnancies and single parent homes often reveal patterns of developmental impairment spanning generations.  While the parents may be aware of their child's struggle, they disclose they are unable to understand the cause of the struggle, or how to intervene effectively.

Many of our children-patients had not benefitted from other treatment approaches, or were viewed by other practitioners as treatment "resistant." And still others were excluded or turned away by providers due to the complexity or severity of their behaviors.

Whether your child retreats and hides from the world, or your child moves against and is at war with their world, we feel we can help you and your child.

Our patients and their parents undergo pre-treatment psychodynamic-analytical, psycho-diagnostic assessments initially. We schedule these assessment appointments within ten weeks of referral, currently. Structural and strategic family therapies and psychodynamic-analytical therapy underpins our treatments.

Because parent-caregiver involvement in treatment is predictive of treatment outcome, consultation, and education services for parents and caregivers, as well as individual therapy, couple-marriage-relationship therapy, and family therapy is critical to change. Treating the family is a necessary part of treating the child.
